At the first base camp things are busy and smooth a lot of how to, who is and what's that to understand a bit more. Everyone is coming from a different place and situation. So far people here are from: Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Romania, Italy, Switzerland, China, The Netherlands, Russia, France and USA. We are now in a process to domesticate each other to get in sync for the journey that is starting soon introducing ourselves and projects... and start to share. The feeling is that one of the most interesting aspect here will be the opportunity for things to grow from the crossing of so much different experiences. The donkey already joined us and heehaw a lot to say hello and welcome to everyone.
Kaspar is given an apple, by Fernando Goncalves da Costa, a truck driver from Portugal parked on the motorway just outside 'Paradise'. Susanne is given a story of an egg, by Lode, a dairy farmer in Zonnebeke who is hosting the Sideways team at the start of our journey.
Starting with the apple and the egg, Kaspar and Susanne will be exchanging items for new items throughout the next four weeks. Kaspar will exchange material objects and Susanne will exchange the immaterial. Whatever we have at the end of the SIdeways Festival will be sent back to Fernando and Lode.
What would you exchange for an apple, or the story of an egg?
